Volunteers' Job Description
Safety Kayakers
Safety kayakers will be stationed within the reservoir race route, ferrying the lifeguard. (Note that safety kayakers need a minimum of 1 star certificate)
1. Look out for participants in distress
2. Do a rescue in the event that a competitor’s kayak capsizes
3. Ensure competitors compliance of race routes(e.g. look out for participants who try to take short cuts)
Marshallers
Marshallers will be stationed at critical road junctions as well as along the running route.
1. Direct participants to the correct route to prevent them from taking the wrong turn at a junction
2. Look out for participants in distress, informing the medics should they require any medical attention
3. Ensure competitors compliance of race routes(e.g. look out for participants who try to take short cuts)
4. Cheer on the competitors!
Drinks station
Drinks station volunteers will be in charge of water points located along the race routes.
1. Handout drinks to runners along the route
2. Do a timely refill of cups so that all runners can get drinks
3. Cheer on the competitors!
Water logistics
Water logistics volunteers will be helping out with the moving of wet equipments such as kayaks/paddles/life jackets, assisting competitors when they get on and off their kayaks as well as controlling the crowd at the transition area of kayaking and running.
1. Male volunteers preferred as some items may be heavier to move and crowd control may require volunteers to shout if necessary.
Land logistics
Land logistics volunteers will be in charge of tending the registration counter, baggage stations, moving of land equipments and controlling of crowd at the booths area.

Timers
Timers will be stationed at the end of kayaking and running race routes to clock the timings of competitors. Timers must be alert as timings recorded are important in determining the outcome of the race.
Photographers
Pictures tell a thousand words. What better way is there to document this exciting event than by taking pictures! Come join us in capturing the excitement on film!
1. Photographers will be stationed along race routes to capture the priceless moments of competitors in action!
2. Photographers have to bring their own cameras for the event
Lifeguards
Lifeguards will be stationed with the safety kayakers. A minimum of bronze medallion certificate is required.
1.\ Assist capsized participants should they require help.
Route Briefers
Route briefers will brief competitors on the race routes and respond to any participant’s queries.
1. Must be able to articulate and communicate effectively with a crowd
2. Route briefers will be briefed by Legs and Paddles committee on the competition routes and plans.
